ADVANCED ANALYTICS - ENGINE PROFILES

Engine Profiles tell you exactly how your Engine is working, and how it is changing over time. At the start of training, the capacity of each system is influenced mainly by past experience.   A sprinter or football player has a well-developed glycolytic system but may lack aerobic capacity.  A distance runner or triathlete typically displays the opposite.   Less experienced people usually have limited capacity in both systems.

Engine Profiles convert data to actionable intelligence about your capacity. Our app collects your results from each training day and groups them by training stimulus. This example includes results from anaerobic intervals, endurance (zone 2), max aerobic power, and more.

The app analyzes your results and calculates the key indicators of your capacity. This athlete has a deficiency in their aerobic capacity. In a balanced engine, the Glycolytic / Aerobic Ratio is between the two Power Ratios.

By comparing the Glycolytic and Aerobic results to the Time Trial, the app identifies strengths and weaknesses.

The Year of the Engine corrects these imbalances, building a strong foundation for advanced training. Athletes can track their progress and see how their capacity is developing.

This athlete has corrected their imbalances. Their Aerobic Ratio has increased considerably, with very little change in the glycolytic ratio and with no loss of glycolytic power. In addition to increased in aerobic power, this athlete has improved their Time Trial results as well, and is now prepared for advanced training.

Proprietary Metrics: Key Ratios

The Key Ratios tells you where your capacity stands at any given time.  By analyzing how your ratios change over time, the app can help you understand your physiology a bit better.    Significant gains in one energy system can indicate a fast twitch or slow twitch bias, which has implications for pacing and training time allocation.   At any point on your Year of the Engine journey, our coaching staff is always available to assist with review of your results.
